Hi, I'm Josh Haley. I reside in Rush Township with my family - my wife, Perecles, and my gents, David and Daniel.

I wear two hats in this community - I'm a local pastor and also on staff for a State Representative in Lansing. I have experience with both state and local government, and I understand the important role of each and how historically they support each other to better represent we, the people.

I feel inspired to run because I am seeing this important balance changing.

I'm running to maintain your individual rights to choose what's best for you, for our farmers and the preservation of their land, and to preserve Shiawassee County's rich heritage.

I believe in the traditional small-town values cherished in this community, the support we see for local businesses, and the love we hold as a community. These are values I want my sons and grandchildren to embrace.

Change is inevitable, but we don't have to lose who we are or our rights in the process.

I'm running to represent you. My name is Josh Haley. I am running for County Commissioner in District 1, and I am asking for your vote.

It’s not about party or moral distinctions; it’s about local people and local government continuing to be allowed to choose what’s best for their citizens.

It is important that you, as citizens, maintain your rights to vote for, discuss, and determine what is best for you, your children, and your community.

My objective is to ensure local people maintain rights to make decisions regarding what happens in their community.

Local governments and their residents are losing both their voice and their ability to run the communities they live in as they know best.

Farmers are being hit by regulations they have no ability to oppose.

Changes dismantling our small-town values and heritage are being mandated, not requested.

Personal Priorities

Preservation of our heritage is the most important thing that we have facing out county right now. We do need to expand our tax base to continue the success we have already started, but we can do so without changing our community and losing who we are.

Allow township and county governments to block the development of solar, wind, and Electric Vehicle battery production if their elected leadership decide.

Private property matters, but so does local government’s ability to determine what is best for their communities. We need the people of the local community to determine what is best for the place they call home. Preservation of our agricultural heritage is key to making sure we remain who we are

Preserve our Farmland

Use increased and existing revenue to go towards protecting our community from crime and drug use.

Shiawassee County, like all communities, faces a crime problem. This is not insurmountable, and our community is strong. We can work to build our economy, preserve our heritage, and use that revenue for increased public safety services like our police and fire departments.

Our budget reached $21 million this year. This is trending in the right direction, but we need to increase it even more. Our current county leadership and the members of our county commission have done a great job of working to bring this down. We just have to have a continued sense of fiscal responsibility.

Use increased and existing revenue to diligently lower our debt.

Focus on Public Safety

Continue to Lower Debts

Frankenmuth is a great example of a community that emphasized their heritage in their business and economic growth. Their community is highly successful, yet they have remained true to their character. Shiawassee County can model this approach by highlighting our strengths as a community.

Focus on creating a climate for various kinds of industry, such as tourism, and manufacturing.
